Chairman
Born in the rural town of Lady Frere in the former homeland of Transkei more than sixty years ago, Sir D as he is affectionately known, stumbled on accounting and auditing profession in 1977.Having been angered by being over-looked for a promotion he not only qualified for but also deserved he resigned his government post, and got a job as a trainee accountant at Alex Aiken and Piet in 1977. He furthered his studies through Unisa, obtaining BCom and BCompt (Hons). He went all the way to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in 1981. This makes Sir D to be the second only African Chartered Accountant to ever qualify
in this country.
He practiced with Prof. Nkuhlu, the first African to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in the country, for many years and arguably they are responsible for training more than 60% of African CAs. In 1984 he became a partner responsible for external audit and staff development. Through various mergers he became a partner in Price Waterhouse Coopers in 1990 where he was in-charge of the Mthatha Office.
Sir D co-founded PDB Pretorius Dondashe in 1994 where he practising as a Chartered Accountant until a merger to form ANF. Sir D served on the first board of Eastern Cape Gambling Board. He was the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Eastern
Cape Provincial Government He also served in many other Audit Committees and boards.. Sir D is now a Director and Executive Chairman of ANF Professional Services Inc and ANF 2 Consulting (Pty) Ltd.
